Mecca Of Party Favors
Posted by joan under Events Planning, Shopping
I just hosted a birthday party for my daughter who just turned 5. We had a Strawberry Shortcake Theme and we had the party inside a mini resort. I am here not to share with you what exactly happened in the party, but would like to let you know about a place where I got all our party favors - Divisoria Mall!
I have been hosting parties for my daughter for more than 4 years now. My Aunt Vien told me that I could get all my party decorations, favors, and prizes from Divisoria Mall. For 3 years, I thought that the store she was talking about was the stalls located on the 2nd or 3rd floor of Divisoria Mall. I didn’t know that what she was actually talking about the wet market in the Divisoria Mall basement.
When I went to Divisoria Mall’s wet market, I was so amazed. It is like the Mecca of Party Favors, the Cave of Wonders, the pot of gold in the end of the rainbow! Half of the market was for the meat and veggies, the other half was solely for party goods. I saw a lot of stalls that sell small toys by the kilo, balloons, pinatas, loot bags, name tags, toys, pabitin, candies, puzzles, hats, action figures for cakes, party poppers, etc. They have all kinds of party favors for almost all themes. I didn’t really expect I would get to find a lot of Strawberry Shortcake stuff there but I did and I got a lot of them. In malls and supermarkets, if you get 12 pieces of plastic lootbags at 30 to 35 pesos, in Divisoria Market the 12 lootbags would only cost you 12 pesos! Just imagine how much you’ll save if you buy all your party favors, prizes, and presents there.
If you are planning to shop at Divisoria Mall for your party goods, it is best to go there on a weekday around 7 am. It will be easier to find a parking space, and there won’t be a lot of people shopping with you. Wear simple clothing, comfortable rubber shoes or sneakers. No big bags, no jewelry and no slippers. The stalls in the market are so close to each that you will have to squeeze yourself to be able to go to the next stalls. You do not have to compare prices between stalls because if there will be price differences, they would be very small and insignificant. What’s important is you get to go around and get all the things you need the fastest possible time… so you’d have extra time to shop for yourself.
How to get there:
Public Transpo: From North:
a) Take the LRT Monumento then go down LRT Central then ride a jeep “Divisoria”.
b) You can also take a TAFT jeep from Monumento and go down RECTO street then take a jeep to TUTUBAN CENTER then walk all the way to Divisoria.
c) If you are near EDSA, take bus Baclaran/Pasay Rotonda or MRT towards MRT Edsa Station, then take a jeep DIVISORIA or the LRT towards LRT Central.
Public Transpo: From South:
a) From Alabang go to South Super Highway, take bus that says CUBAO EDSA, then go down SM Makati / MRT Ayala Station, then cross EDSA to the other side, then take either bus or MRT to Pasay EDSA Station/Rotonda. Then take TAFT or LRT to Central Station.
Taxi or Private vehicles: Here’s a map for you…

There are a lot of cloth stalls/stores along Tabora, Ylaya, and Juan Luna Streets. My best bet is the stores along Tabora. I think it is best to get cloths outside of the Divisoria and Tutuban malls. You’d have more choices and the prices are just cheaper. Hope this helps.
