I Wish I WERE A Princess? I Wish I WAS A Princess?
Posted by joan under Teaching
A question was raised in class today. Should we use ‘I wish i was’ or ‘I wish I were’?
I googled the answer and I learned that both ‘was and were’, preceeded by ‘I wish I’, are both correct, however ‘were’ is more preferred by old english grammar books. The use of ‘were’ is often used to point to situations that are unreal.
