Franchise Information: Hong Kong Style Noodles
Posted by joan under Making Money

When I have enough funds to open a business, I would invest on the Hong Kong Style
Noodles franchise. I’ve tried their products, observed their branches, talked to their customers, went to Antel Global to visit Francon Inc. for FIRST HAND franchise information, studied their business (ROI, contract, etc). I am impressed.
HISTORY
Flavored Rice Box, the food stall where they mix the rice and meat with peas corn and carrots, sauces, and then serve in a small take away box? I’m sure you’re already familiar of it. Hong Kong style noodles is just one of their products.
Of what I understand, because people were into the ‘rice box’ idea, the owners went ahead and introduced other products. Flavored Rice Box introduced the Rice Toppings (that’s another franchise idea you may consider) and Hong Kong Style Noodles. Since the business was doing so well, they must have decided to branch out into separate business/franchises. So… it’s not just Hong Kong Style Noodles… it’s actually Flavored Rice Box’s Hong Kong Style Noodles.
THE BUSINESS
Food is clean, filling, and very affordable. For 36 pesos you can already have a filling snack of noodles, siomai, and gulaman. They serve fast and the quality of the food is good. The bean sprouts and the noodles they use looks and smells fresh.
The service people were pleasant while trying to accommodate several people in line. Surprisingly even if there are a lot in line, their service is fast. Haven’t heard negative complaints from the customers eating with us.
FRANCHISE INFORMATION (Yes they do franchise!)
Just for clarification the franchise fee is 180,000 pesos. That amount already includes 10,000 pesos the reservation fee for location or area, and the rest of the amount to be paid upon signing of contract. The franchise fee already includes the name of the franchise, transfer of technology, business system, marketing assistance, pre-opening assistance, grand opening assistance, post opening assistance, operational manual, recruitment and training of personnel, and a junior cart. You also have to reserve about 50,000 pesos or even more for the rent location (if you’re going to place it in the mall of course that’s a lot - that’s why it’s better to assign it to a ‘more public’ place like a terminal ??), and initial inventory.
According to Francon, you can earn as much as 99,000 to 150,000 pesos per month… well that’s just the gross income. Of course, after subtracting the possible expenses per month (which include salaries of 2 people, rent, supplies, utilities, and a 2% royalty fee) net income is about 19,000 to 37,000 pesos per month. Just like any business major factor is location, location, location… quantity and quality. Payback period or return of investment would be approximately 10-12 months. It looks achievable!!!

Hi Joan,
I’m doing a study about the franchising business and since the noodle cart is what’s in nowadays, I decided to focus on it for our finance project.
Does Francon have a sort of orientation or briefing about the whole business? It would be beneficial for me if I can get a hold of their business model like ROI, costing, etc.
For our project, we have to create a business plan (realistic) and defend all the data that we’ll be putting there so it would really be helpful to have a basis in all the numbers.
I hope you get back to me on my email.
Thanks.:)

Hi Joan,
A pleasant day to you. I am Apple Torres, student of Infotech Institute of Arts and Sciences. We are having our baby thesis in our english subject, my course is Hotel and Restaurant Management. I am here to ask you help about the information regarding Hong Kong Style Noodles since you already studied this business because I am thinking we can make it as our topic aside from being interested in this business. Hope you have time to help a student like me. It will be a big help to us. Thank you so much in advance and may the God bless you.

Hi Apple,
Absolutely, you can use this write up as reference for your study. However, I still recommend that you also visit FRANCON and speak with a sales representative to get more information. I suggest that you list down your questions so that when you are already talking to the sales person, you’d be able to get all the answers you need. I just heard from a contact that the franchising fee for Hongkong Style Noodles have gone up.That’s one you have to find out too. Good luck on your baby thesis.

Hi Melissa Ann,
I am glad that you have shown interest in franchising. I have read several books about it and I agree that for first time entrepreneurs getting a franchise is the best way to learn how to manage or run a business. You’ll be taught about the whole business process, where to get and how to manage your people and supplies… so just learn as much as you can. Just remember although you bought your franchise it does not mean that the people who were assigned to you are already self sufficient. You should always monitor your franchise. Treat it as if it is your baby, help and watch it grow. Good luck!

Hi, I’m also interested in getting a franchise for this food cart. Just want to get the feedbacks of those who opened - (e.g., Melissa ann)How was it? Was the franchisor supportive? Where’s your location? All advices and information would be most welcomed.
Thanks!

Hello again!
Just visited Francon a few weeks ago. A Hongkong Style Noodle Franchise costs more now. It is P180,000 from the P80,000 original franchising price. The P180,000 already includes all the other services plus the initial inventory which was not included in the original P80,000 pricing.
