A Tribute To The Greatest Fighting Game Ever
Posted by rico under Arcade Games, Games
I have been playing this game ever since it was launched back in 2000. I got hooked on it, primarily because I have a fascination with swords and swordfights alike. In a tekken-dominated arcade world, it offered something new. Learning the art of Soul Calibur takes patience and diligence. Some say it’ll take you a year to master all the moves of all the characters. The thing with Soul Calibur is that you yourself have to make your own combos, Find out which slash or thrust combination damages the most. But what really hooked me to this game was the thirst for “blood” spilled by others.
Letting go and slashing your opponent relentlessly is the most unforgiving and merciless act you can give him. I love to challenge strangers. I love the satisfaction it gives everytime you thrash your opponent matching the trash talk you’ve been giving each other while playing it. I love the idea of your opponent bleeding to get more tokens just to defeat you. I drool over triumph at the end of the day that no one has outsmarted you enough to defeat you. Given this, at last, I realized what I’m good at and strived to be better. Back at Robinson’s Galleria, I made a name for myself and others came to learn from me. I wasn’t the snobbish type to kindly tell them to go to hell. Of course, in time, everyday strangers become your friends. Until one day, your realize you have made a community out of nothing. I miss the camaraderie. I was fighting till Soul calibur 2 was launched. I miss the Respect everyone gave me on my turf. Even though i am no longer King of Galleria and passed the mantle to my friend supervisor, they still give their respect to me , which up to this day, am still honored and earned by right. Until now, I will always remember what Soul calibur gave me… Honor and Respect among fellow men.
